INTRODUCTION LEVEL
This session is carried out over a morning or afternoon session and it is aimed at all personnel who will be involved in the Management of Legionellosis Programme in some capacity.
The syllabus includes:
- Review of the Disease.
- Review of the causative organism.
- Causative organism life cycle and associated environmental requirements.
- Required control measures:
- Tanks
- Calorifiers
- Distribution systems
- Showers
- Thermostatic mixing valves
- Dental chairs
- Nebulisers
- Ice making machines
- Air handling systems
- Other systems at risk such as irrigation, production processes, car washes etc.
- Outline, review and discuss the specific operational requirements of the Legionellosis Management & Control Programme of the Site:
- PPM Programme task specifications
- PPM Programme task frequencies
- PPM Programme associated logging and reporting requirements
- Logging and reporting method of usage and log-book forms requirements
- Usage of equipment
- Fault repair and notification
- Review of current Legionellosis Management & Control
Programme Status at the Site.
- Outline and discuss the specific role and task
requirements of each person involved in the control of
Legionella.
